Education:
Ph.D. Physics , Tulane University, 1971
Research Interests:
Solar Energy Conversion (Photovoltaics, Rectennas, etc.) Dr. Morel has spent his entire 35 year career working in the photovoltaic solar energy field, primarily on thin-film materials. In addition to solar energy his experience extends to the general fields of semiconductor materials and devices. Materials classes have included organic semiconductors, polymers, compound semiconductors, amorphous materials, crystalline silicon, and transparent conductors. Although primary emphasis has been with photovoltaic devices; additional experience includes LED’s, thin film transistors and memory devices, x-ray and y-ray detectors and photodetectors. Contributions to the field have ranged from atomic structure to the performance of hybrid tandem photovoltaic modules. He has over 100 publications and 9 U.S. patents.
