Research Interests:

Organometallic catalysts for use in anodes of fuel cells using liquid fuels such as methanol, synthesis and electrochemistry of heterobimetallic complexes as catalysts for selective electrochemical oxidation of alcohols, organometallic precursors for the chemical vapor deposition of inorganic materials, catalysis of carbonylation reactions. Dr. McElwee-White has published more than 70 papers in the areas of organic and organometallic chemistry and given invited presentations on these topics at 54 scientific conferences and 52 universities and national laboratories. She has served on the Editorial Advisory Boards for the Journal of Organic Chemistry, Organometallics, and Current Organic Chemistry. She is currently a Titular Member of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry: Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry Division Committee and a member of the Executive Committee of the American Chemical Society, Division of Organic Chemistry. Prior service includes a term as National Program Chair for the American Chemical Society, Division of Organic Chemistry.
