Education:

Ph.D. Duke University, Durham, NC, USA, 1994

Research Interests:

Super Capacitors (a.k.a. Ultracapacitors) are currently used extensively to boost the efficiency of hybrid vehicles. Our research group at the University of West Florida has developed a novel supercapacitor structure with an energy storage capability that reaches 100-200 times the energy storage capability of commercially available, state-of-the-art supercapacitors. The technology has recently been published in the journal IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control [1].

Dr. Bakhoum is a Senior Member of the IEEE. His research has been reported in over 17 journal publications and 10 issued US Patents.

Dr. Bakhoum has served as a consultant for the US Department of Defense and for Lockheed Martin Corporation. He received a number of important industry awards, including an award in 2000 for his work on the second-generation GPS satellite system.
