Research Interests
Dr. Jennings’ research activities focus on removal and recycle of wastes from water and air. In general, Dr. Jennings’ interests extend to design and modeling of any process for air or water treatment. Recent research projects have examined processes ranging from use of ultrasound to catalyze liquid phase reactions to use of electromagnetic treatment to reduce scaling in crude oil heat exchangers.
Current Research
Development of a novel membrane separation process to remove and concentrate trace gases, such as carbon dioxide in air (primarily for applications to spacecraft atmospheres) and hydrogen sulfide in natural gas. Use of ion exchange to recover phosphate ions from acidic industrial waste water streams resulting from processing of phosphate ore. Development of a novel biological reactor to produce algae for use as feed in aquaculture systems.
