Education:
Ph.D. Civil & Environmental Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Research Interests:
We envision that materials and structures of the next generation will be more "intelligent" than what we are used to. They will be capable of sensing the environment and their status. They will report to us what to do, or even self-adjust or self-heal. Our group aims to conduct cutting-edge research for the next-generation materials and structures. Another key research area of the group is wind engineering and wind energy. Extreme loading caused by hurricanes requires stronger structures. Wind loading also causes vibration problems that need to be solved. The group also has new initiatives in wind energy research. Examples of our research include, but not limited to:- Wind-resistant structures
- Wind energy and sustainability
- Structural health monitoring
- Computational intelligence for structural mechanics
