Research Interests:

His research focuses on the design, fabrication, and characterization of magnetic and electromechanical microsensors/microactuators, as well as miniaturized power and energy systems. He currently is exploring thermoelectric power generation from waste heat, vibrational energy harvesters based on magnetic energy conversion, and magnetically driven chip-scale self-assembly techniques. During his graduate studies, he held research fellowships from the National Science Foundation and the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society. For his master's thesis, he developed piezoresistive silicon microphones and MEMS-based acoustic array technologies for aeroacoustic measurements in the Interdisciplinary Microsystems Group at the University of Florida. For his doctoral research, he joined the Microsensor and Microactuator Laboratory at Georgia Tech, where he developed novel fabrication technologies and developed multiwatt magnetic microgenerators for portable power applications. Dr. Arnold is the current faculty advisor and former student president of the UF Eta Kappa Nu ECE engineering honor society. He is also a member of IEEE, Tau Beta Pi, and American Society for Engineering Education.
