Research Interests:

Dr. Wilfrido A. Moreno received his B.S.E.E., M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Moreno is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of South Florida and director for the Ibero- American Science and Technology Educational Consortium at USF, (USF-ISTEC). In the area of research, Dr. Moreno is a founding member of the former Center for Microelectronics Research, (CMR), which is currently the Nanomaterials & Nanomanufacturing Research Center, (NNRC). Dr. Moreno he serves as the director for the System Integration and Laser Processing Laboratory at NNRC. Dr. Moreno's current areas of interest are oriented towards system integration by providing "off-the-shelf" hardware/software solutions to industrial applications. Application areas of interest include Digital Signal Processing, Communications, Industrial Power & Controls, Microelectronics, Biomedical Engineering and Multimedia Solutions. Voice, Video and Data over IP applied to Distance Learning Solutions receive special attention. Dr. Moreno's broad educational background in Communication, Controls and Microelectronics has allowed him to work on multidisciplinary research projects where concepts and expertise in all of these areas comes together for system design, fabrication and test. Currently, Dr. Moreno is involved in projects that focus on providing high speed broadband access, which utilizes Broadband over Power Line, (BPL), technology. Dr. Moreno's investigations in this area are structured to support a full suite of content applications to meet content delivery needs in academia, industry and government in the Ibero-American region.
