Education:

Ph.D. (Dr. Sci.) Uppsala University, Sweden, 1966

Research Interests:

Theoretical and computational research on the dynamics of molecular systems and materials, relating to surface phenomena relevant to kinetics and catalysis. In particular, quantum dynamics of phenomena induced by light absorption-emission, and by electron transfer and electronic transitions induced by molecular interactions. Related work has involved calculation of rates of collisional energy transfer, of electron transfer at metal surfaces, yields of molecules photodesorbed from metal surfaces, and thermal effects in the vibrational relaxation of species adsorbed on solid surfaces. Fundamental aspects of solar light absorption as it relates to energy and fuel production by means of photocells and photo-electrochemical cells. Dr. Micha has published over 150 papers and chapters, and has edited five books. He has directed 20 PhD Dissertations. He has been co-organizer of seven Pan-American Workshops on Theory and Computation in the Molecular and Materials Sciences, and of numerous Sanibel International Symposia on the same subjects. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, and has been a Sloan Foundation Fellow, NBS J.I.L.A. Fellow, and a Senior U.S. Awardee of the A. von Humboldt Foundation. He has worked on areas relating to energy while been a visiting professor at Harvard University (several times), Max Planck Institutes in Goettingen and Munich, Imperial College (London), University of Colorado, Weizmann Institute, University of California (Santa Barbara), University of Buenos Aires, National Research Council (Madrid), and Ecole Normale Superieure (Paris).
