Education:

Ph.D. Electrical Engineering, Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, 2005

Research Interests:

Dr. Xue’s research interests primarily focus on organic electronic materials and devices. Activities include growth and characterization of organic thin films, materials and device issues in organic photovoltaic cells, organic light-emitting devices for lighting and displays, organic transistors and memories. He is also interested in the interface issues in hybrid organic/inorganic systems. The objectives are two-fold: to gain a more profound understanding of the fundamental physical properties and processing of organic materials, and to develop novel electronic and optoelectronic devices with interesting performance characteristics or with performance suitable for practical use. Dr. Xue is currently a member of the Materials Research Society, IEEE, and the American Physical Society. He has published more than 20 papers in refereed journals and given about 20 invited and contributed presentations at national and international meetings and conferences. He also has 10 issued or pending patents on organic materials and devices. He received the inaugural Solar Energy Innovation Award at Princeton University for his thesis work on high efficiency organic photovoltaic cells, which set the world record in efficiency for this type of devices.
