Ph.D. Inorganic Chemistry, Brooklyn Polytechnic University, New York, NY, 1991

Research Interests:

Gas, liquid, pressure and bio-sensors based on GaN and ZnO wide energy bandgap semiconductor materials for high temperature and harsh environment applications. Dr. Ren is also interested in the areas of high temperature and high power GaN based electronic devices, device passivation, ZnO based light emitting diodes, InGaAs based MSM detectors and mixers. Prior to joining UF, he worked for Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies at Murray Hill, for 13 years in the areas of GaAs based HEMT, HBTs and MOSFETs. He has published more than 500 journal papers on compound semiconductor electronics and holds 17 US and 11 European patents. He is member of Material Research Society, American Vacuum Science Society and American Institute Chemical Engineering, a sensor member of IEEE and a Fellow of The Electrochemical Society.
